Indigenous Dreams is a series made in collaboration with Bolivian-Dutch activist, Chihiro Guezebroek.
Indigenous Dreams started with a desire to unite and celebrate Indigenous vision and experiences on Dutch soil: to make a countermovement of the erasure politics and dominant culture that pretend we Indigenous grandparents, children and grandchildren do not exist.
Indigenous Futurism In The Netherlands; where should you start? We decided to start modestly with interviews and portraits of nine Indigenous women from different nations, living in the Netherlands. Exploring their Indigenous dream as an antidote to the American dream that has brought us genocide and environmental destruction. How do Indigenous women in the Netherlands navigate their existence and what do they do to heal from the ongoing politics of dispossession and denial? How can we wake up from the colonial nightmare together?
We invite you to here to think about your own dreams: Where do feel the most space to dream? What decolonial dreams do YOU have?
We have created 2 editions of the Indigenous Dreams series: Women and Indigenous Identity (2022) and Sovereignty (2023).
